Local Authors Release New Pictorial Book on Early Burbank
Twin Sisters Erin K. Schonauer and Jamie C. Schonauer created a new addition to the Images of America series from Arcadia Publishing. The book is titled Early Burbank and boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by. Join us for a multi-media presentation by the authors.
In this new pictorial history, unique stories and anecdotes from Burbank's past are revealed. The authors culled vintage images to document Burbank's transition from a rural community to a media hub full of artistic flair and creativity.
The book highlights Burbank's rich roots in aviation. Lockheed planes built in Burbank were flown by the likes of Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh. The Schonauer sisters also included images depicting scenes from films shot on Burbank back lots and streets that have entertained audiences worldwide.
Erin and Jamie Schonauer are an identical-twin writing team whose work has appeared in award-winning publications. They both have master's degrees in radio and television from San Francisco State University. They hve gathered visually stunning and unique photographs to create a pictorial journey of Burbank's intriguing past using images from the Burbank Aviation Museum, Burbankia.com, Burbank Tournamento of Roses Association, Burbank Historical Society, and rare personal collections.
